february 16th 2016 obsessions

It can be hard to keep up! With all the new and beautiful items that come out every day to feast our eyes and our pocket books on. Today’s new releases alone- I could clothe my entire body, kitchen shelves and future children with trendy merchandise.

Bando.. PINK AND GLITTER. UH. makes me happier than Chuys chips and queso. This water bottle would make me want to drink a lot of water. I’m a Swell gal, but this water bottle makes me want to change my loyalties (and that’s saying a lot!!) Not to mention I love following Jen Gotch’s daily Instagram/Snapchat stories (@jengotch)

Rifle Paper Co. just came out with their new Keds collection and it is TO DIE FOR. So much so.. that it sold out within hours! And I’m not mad about it, I am so happy that everyone is just as obsessed. Anna Bond is continuous perfection and I always can’t wait to see what she comes out with next! (@annariflebond)

Wedding Inspiration vs. Reality

Pink. Pineapples. Perfection. All mixed with a WHOLE lot of love. Whether it was the various brass pineapples hand selected for some of the centerpiece accessories or the bright colors that needed to flood every moment of the wedding.. it was just as I imagined it.

Leaf Perfection

Tropical leaves make my heart super happy. Whether used in event or home design leaves WIN. Bringing in nature is incredibly soothing as well as just plain fun. Banana leaves and palm trees have such a simplicity, yet complexity to them. Looking from far away the wisps of their fronds make an impact- close up the details stand out. Enjoy some of my favorite tropical leaf inspiration. Where do you like to design with leaves?

Remember to look up and take in their beauty!

Grown-up Christmas List

I was going to wait a couple weeks to post this…but with Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Cyber Monday. I just couldn’t hold it in any longer!! Many of the shops I love are small businesses and I love to support these incredible (mostly girl) BOSSES who work hard for their families and passions. Follow the links to check out my favorite picks for this year and maybe snag some sales!

Besides the words from Natalie Grant, I do want some beautiful things for Christmas. This is a list I curated of my favorite designers, brands and the pretty things I have my eye on right now. Kendra Scott is my GIRL and I always want jewelry for any occasion (even simply a Tuesday night sale is a good excuse) but I’m also loving my Kendra mixed with HM Willows beautiful bracelets. Pattern is king in my world and whether the pattern is a marbled pillow from Rebecca Atwood, palm fronds on a soft sweater from Show Me Your Mumu or any hand-written object…I’m in heaven. With Lori Weitzner’s, Ode to Color, coming out this Christmas season, I am so excited to dive into her color worlds and see which color palette I most identify with (do I love color and neutrals the same? We will see).

“Things” keep getting more beautiful and well crafted every year. This year instead of being envious of these things that I may not own myself, I’m trying to change my perspective and be joyful! Let’s focus on a positive perspective this Christmas and be filled with joy for the creaters and makers around the globe (who are killin it in the retail game- might I add) as well as the fabulous people purchasing!!

Fall Inspiration

1. // 2. // 3. // 4. // 5.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Wow, I have so many things to be thankful for this year. I’m thankful for my husband, family, friends, support system, health and beautiful things. This fall I was inspired by soft and sophisticated tabletop design as well as creative pumpkin placement. Fall is almost over, but this color palette will transcend fall and migrate over throughout the holidays as well.
What are you thankful for this fall?

What comes to mind when you think of the color white? Blank canvas, clean, pure..

I like to find broad inspiration when it comes to color. Lately, the color white has been ever on my mind. Not just because I’m getting married in a month, but the fresh look of the color white makes me happy. Whether the inspiration comes from architecture, texture or fashion- white makes an impact! White walls are often misunderstood and many HATE white walls. I do believe that white has a very important place in interior design.

These rooms bring white to a soft and warm level. Enjoy

**(Sometimes Pinterest links go nowhere)

This will be my last blog post until the wedding. It has been crazy around here and I can’t wait to pick back up once we are settled. More posts will be about newlywed life, interior design and lots of happiness.

push or pull?

As you enter a room a door is the first and last memory. Do you push or pull? When entering a place you actually TOUCH doors. That is so important. Not only does a door have to look great on the outside, but it needs to be practical and move. For those of us on a budget- changing the color of your door and your hardware can make a huge difference. But look harder, here are some doors to dream about.

1. I love this carved Art Nouveau door from Ghent, Belgium, the lines and texture make an impact. // 2. Interior doors often blend into their surroundings- this door does nothing of the sort. I must say it is a successful curved structure and glass and wood mix. // 3. Window/doors that open  up to the exterior is a fabulous concept. Large pivoting doors in a residential setting is refreshing! // 4. If doors could talk this door would be the most hospitable door in the room. The oversized hardware in an unconventional location is placement and scale perfection.
